What factors affect the quality of black masterbatches?
Mar 29,2024
There are many factors that affect the quality of a finished product during the production process, whether it is machinery, something we eat, or something we use on a daily basis. Naturally, our color masterbatch is the same, in the process there will be many factors affecting its quality.
First, dispersion: raw carbon black is very difficult to deal with and dirty mixture, it is covered with dust, light weight, fluffy. Unless large-scale treatment measures are used, it will dirty machines and workers, making the working environment dirty.
Second, rheology: if a masterbatch itself has good dispersion, but it can not flow into the material to be molded, the production results are not ideal. Generally speaking, the priming resin used for the production of masterbatches has high rheology. In order to save costs, some masterbatch producers use reused materials, scrap or recycled materials as resin carriers.
Third, compatibility: If the masterbatch is produced using swarf or recycled materials, it may contain contaminants or other non-melting polymers. This will cause some unforeseen and difficult to constrain the trouble, wasting the consumer's time and raw materials. In this case, the priming resin can be used to produce high-quality masterbatches, and the masterbatch has good compatibility only during the melting process. Color masterbatches can be produced using LLDPE, LDPE, HDPE, PP, PS, SAN, PA and other materials.
Fourth, stability: in today's international economy, international customers on the quality of masterbatches, raw materials, such as the stability of the high demand is necessary, which is the fifth factor in determining the quality of black masterbatches. One of the main manifestations of stability is a smooth carbon black percentage. If the percentage of carbon black is fluctuating, then the number of masterbatches that need to be melted is not the same, and it is impossible to produce the same shade of product.
V. Covering power: This factor is especially important for masterbatches used for waste or recycled polymers, where the role of black is to cover other colors in the waste. Large particles of carbon black have less coloring power and are less likely to cover all the other colors in the lower layers, and as a result, the product gets only deviated colors. In the melting process, the correct first choice of carbon black with high coloring ability to cover the existing color is the so-called ability to cover.
Sixth, the color brightness: There are various types of carbon black available in the market for coloring masterbatches, but the color and price of each type are also very different. Large particles of carbon black have a lower degree of coloring and a different base color than small particles of carbon black.
